Each year in early March I’m always surprised to see tulips and daffodils beginning to peek through the ground. Winter has thawed and spring is beginning to emerge.
With Spring come Flower Festivals.
Flower festivals are held every year and start as early as March and continue through May.
In Washington, Skagit Valley hosts a tulips festival that lasts the entire month of April. The festival is a driving tour showcasing many fields of brightly colored tulips. You’ll be greeted by millions of tulips in bloom. What a sight to see!
The Tulips Festival is in La Conner. La Conner is located between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, and is about an hour from Seattle and two hours from Vancouver.
The best times to view the tulips are early morning or late afternoon during the week and on weekends before 10 a.m. Weekends are busy – so plan to arrive before 10 a.m. if you want to beat the crowds.
You may want to take a guided tulips tour while you’re at the festival. Did you know – Skagit Valley produces more tulip, iris and daffodil bulbs than any other county in the U.S.? Pretty Impressive!
The festival offers activities for everyone. Guided tours, Dutch delicacies, art shows and more.

If you aren’t able to attend the Tulips Festival in April – you may want to consider La Conner’s Daffodil Festival in March.
